Cult of Personality or The Second Coming?

Is this a messianic movement?
a cult of personality?
or just good ol' fashioned politics?

Widespread phenomenon
or isolated incidents,
of no immediate concern?

Discouraged,
tolerated,
accepted
or perhaps fostered
by Obama's campaign,
even Obama himself?

-- Discuss.

How Does Obama Feel About America? By Mona Charen

Stacey said...

NoBama,

Thanks for a reply. I have sought a range of opinions on Obama, and am fully neutral on any replies. I have contacted a group of republicans who are choosing to support Obama over McCain. I found this interesting, that he and others should change their political view in this case.

I have to agree with the young base support of the Obama campaign. On networking sites there are thousands upon thousands of supporters. However, not all "young people" in America can be disinterested in news or be voting for him based upon his cool campaign. I have interviewed a student in America who is against Obama for these very reasons, so it would be unrealistic to assume this.

The press here has shown many different opinions on Obama, such as his possible election causing segregation problems amoungst others. What is it about his campaign which causes the two extremes of love or hate?

Also, I can assure you I am not part of the Obama campaign! I have read both of his books recently for research, and could not base a decision on whether he deserves the win as I am faced with propaganda; hense seeking a mixed opinion.

“Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people,” Wright says.

"Hillary ain't never been called a nigger," he says at the climax."

Naomi Wolf...what an idiot. (I'm a woman, so you'll just have to trust me here.)

She's the one who dressed Al Gore up in earth tones to help him win the election. I hope she is just as successful this time.

She became famous because of her first book The Beauty Myth (1991), which became an international bestseller[citation needed]. In the book, she criticized the fashion and beauty industries as exploitative of women. Wolf argued that women deserve "the choice to do whatever we want with our faces and bodies without being punished by an ideology that is using attitudes, economic pressure, and even legal judgments regarding women's appearance to undermine us psychologically and politically." Wolf wrote that women were under assault by the "beauty myth" in five areas: work, religion, sex, violence, and hunger.

That book always ticked me off because Naomi, herself, was extremely beautiful. She probably received the opportunity to write this book because of her beautiful looks, but she was too dumb to see the irony.

But this is just wishful thinking. The origins of the phrase aren't nearly so glamorous or exotic. Two years ago, before Obama even said he wanted to be president, the left-wing-radical-feminist-lesbian novelist Alice Walker published a book of essays and called it We are the Ones We've Been Waiting For. Believe me: If the line had come from the Tribal Elders of the Hopi nation, Alice Walker would have been more than happy to say so. Instead she said it came from a poem published in 1980 by the left-wing-radical-feminist-bisexual poet June Jordan. Neither Walker nor Jordan has said what the sentence means. But Walker did offer this hint in the introduction to her book of essays: "We are the ones we've been waiting for because we are able to see what is happening with a much greater awareness than our parents or grandparents, our ancestors, could see."

Todd Gitlin Reviews Obama's Speech

We reached out to several friends of the magazine (TNR) to respond to Obama's big speech in Philadelphia today. Here's what Todd Gitlin, professor of journalism and sociology at Columbia University, had to say.

This speech was a triumph on so many levels, does one dare hope it will turn the trick for hordes of parsing skeptics and listeners whose eyes did not water?

First, Obama took the high road, which is also the long and demanding road. He refused to "move on" with a cursory acknowledgment that "mistakes were made." He did not acknowledge. He preached and he reasoned. The law professor was in the pulpit. He refused to settle for sprinkling what have become the automatic contemporary word-drops of "distancing." It will still be possible to parse his words for insufficiencies of denunciation, but Obama's gamble was that he could turn Wright's damnable sins into a pivot for a sermon about how the past can be overcome, about how American it would be to accomplish that hard and necessary objective. "We may have different stories but we hold common hopes"--that was the theme. I don't know if this is true, but we will find out whether it is what America needs to believe.

"I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community," he said of the Reverend Wright. "I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother--a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe. These people are a part of me. And they are a part of America, this country that I love." Now, the Reverend Wright's damnations were not simple expressions of racial fear. Or were they? With his little history lesson, extrapolated from black experience to everyone else's paranoia--all that white anger "grounded in legitimate concerns"--Obama was saying that those statements of Wright he rejected and denounced stemmed from a long ugly history of racial fear; and that the only people to overcome "the racial stalemate" with are the people one belongs to. Politics is crucial, politics is the only way America will improve, but the place of politics is among imperfect persons. He did not flatter America by saying the only angels of its nature are the better ones.

An interesting subtext: filial pride. Family values, you might say. Wright, a parental force, stands for him as a man who came from somewhere, an imperfect American. America, in other words, is imperfect and drives toward a higher form of imperfection. Wright's error was in speaking as if society was static! So Obama challenged his listeners: Are you, with Wright, stuck in the past, or are you ready to roll? What Obama was saying is that America is a perennially self-starting community paradoxically mired in the past, but its opportunity is to overcome that past, and its test is to strive to do that--not by demonization but on a couple of wings and a lot of prayers.

And finally, the temperature of this speech is one of its messages; or should I say invitations? Obama kept his cool and turned up the heat at the same time. For those who have not yet voted, and crucially to the superdelegates, he raised the stakes, asking them all: Can you, too, keep your cool and your heat at the same time? The Reverend Jeremiah Wright, he said, had spoken in an "incendiary" manner, but Obama offered himself as the man who rises from flames and invites you to rise from your own. He took a grievous embarrassment and moved his lesson to the plane of prophecy. Talk about hope; talk about audacity. Tears came to my eyes. I don't think I'm especially hard-hearted, but I cannot think of another time when the speech of a presidential candidate watered me up.

At his own moment of crisis, in 1952, Richard Nixon finicked his way into history accompanied by a non-returnable cocker spaniel named Checkers. In 2008, Obama chose his own game: a new hybrid of chess. It might be a game-changer. We'll find out.

Janice Sue G. said...

Pirate, that was interesting. Obama threw his grandmother under the bus today. Nice guy.

http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2008/03/sweet_obama_finished_writing_s.html
Firstly, I have to say that there is no other like Obama. Absolutely none.

To sum up Senator Obama's speech today,

What he is offerring is not for the naive, nor the fainted-hearted, its not for the uncourageous, nor the unchanging.
What he is offering is for the courageous, for those who have the heart to move beyond just dreams, and into realms never experienced in American history.
What he is offerring is beyond hope, hope is just a starting point, like the intimate binding of struggle between his example of the young white girl and the old black man.
What he is offerring is for those who look to the next generation, believing that perfection is not in the eyes of the beholder, but reality which we can't avoid
What he is offerring is a solution for opportunities for more solutions to tackle root issues that have paralyzed a nation fit for perfection
What he is offerring is the antisynthesis to an ideology of hate and a philosophy of inferiority
What he is offerring is an agreement between struggles and a covenant for perfection, in that nothing is impossible if one begins with hope and the assurance of faith
What he is offerring is a contract between the old and the young, black and white, citizens and immigrants, rich and poor, priviledged and the impoverished
What he is offerring is beyond what we think could happen, it is what will happen someday, though the opportunity is one that we can grasp
What he is offerring is enough to make a young man like myself, from distant shores, from a place unlike America, have hope for where I'm from, from right here in America
What he is offerring cannot be exploited by no one, cannot be politically manipulated by any pundit, cannot be impoverished by any economic struggle, it prevails above all else

I am ready for what he is offering, though I also understand that this time, fate might not be ready, though if indeed our generation's destiny, if indeed this time when we speak of such taboo truths, is indeed the time we've so longed for, to move one step closer towards perfection, then I am ready for what he is offering.

That is all that matters, no matter what the political outcome is, he has tapped into a force greater than what we have ever faced, he speaks directly to our hearts, bypassing our conscience and connecting with the root of our psyche. So that even if we try to hold hard to that which continue to divide us, because of our fear, our ignorance, and our childish philosophies of unchanging solutions; his message transcends our reach.

So on behalf of Senator Obama's message, who is truly the epitome of a dream that can only be dreamt by the likes of Martin Luther King Jr., I am truly inspired that hope, change, and perfection are all means and ends which one day, we will achieve, within this nation and the world at-large.

So I hope you got the message, a very clear, simple yet complex, straightforward yet deep understanding of what we need to do to go to where we need to go.

If you feel inspired like I do, don't hide, express it and let it shine as the gem that it is, immune from our own worst enemies, each other.

God Bless.

Barack Obama at Constitution Center: A Historic Encounter with America - Mar 20, 2008

Obama's address at the Constitution Center in Philadelphia will take its place alongside the great addresses in American history. One thinks of Lincoln at Gettysburg, Frederick Douglass on the Fourth of July in Rochester, Booker T. Washington at the Atlanta Exposition in 1895, John F. Kennedy's Inaugural Address, Martin Luther King in 1963, and perhaps five or six other speeches that have elevated the best instincts in the American nation, when one considers Barack Obama's address on the 18th of March, 2008. The speech was remarkable for its judicious and careful use of language and its perfect tone for the occasion. He not only answered questions regarding his relationship with his imperfect pastor, he told us of his own imperfection, and that of his grandmother whom he loves and admires. I am not so much struck by the fact that Obama spoke on the question of race; I am particularly astonished that he did not speak like a politician, but like an ordinary human grappling with the complexities of historical racism in America and what it has done to the American psyche. This was a courageous, audacious, and brilliant exposition of the type we have come not to expect of our politicians. Barack Obama raised the ante, exalted the thinking of the political arena and showed us what a
presidential address could look like if a person was bold enough to tread and lead where others refused to go. I am sure that the Constitution Center speech will be studied, cited, and referred to for many years to come.

I think the passions that Obama arouses are curiously textured on both the sides-- those who write him off do so for reasons as insufficient as those who embrace him. he is NOT the Messiah, but nor is he the Pretender-- at least any more than Bush (who appeared dimwitted but reliable, "shrub"), or Clinton (who was brilliant, but unreliable, "slick") were.

Actually, it is, in part, a "white boy" fatigue that lifts Obama's boat. Not that there is anything racial about it.

Obama's most impassioned followers transfer ages of (partly imagined) burden, and see him as the benevolent exponent who'd score a symbolic victory over generations of (partly imagined) inequities. His biggest appeal is in being un-white, un-Clinton-usqu, -un-GeorgeBush-like, and in many ways, being a cool-dude. What is surprising is how it is mainly independents and intellectuals who suffer from this politician fatigue, and let their emotions drive them Obam-nuts. I, too, support him.

His worst detractors, apart from being rabid anti-Democratic politically, are also, surprisingly, blase because they are political realists. They don't dislike the man, just the warmth and halo that surround him, and poison real-politik, with hope and fervor.

That is this countries main problem. Political realism. Unlike in Pakistan, and Georgia, and Kenya, where people elevate elections to a crusade for the moral and the just, in the US it is just a leap-year exercise.

Obama threatens to make it more than just that.

Through this trial-by-fire, recently experienced by him, he has been Humble, Noncombative, Noncritical and committed to doing his work on this earth to make it a more better and perfect union. He has kept his promise not to tear one another down but to build us up. He has courage in the face of fire, not a courage of anger but a courage of goodwill and harmlessness in spite of the difficulties. That is why he can say with honesty that he can work with the other side because where others see hate, he sees love and the good within an individual... that takes a special person to see the good when bad is all around that person and may be to bring that good out within that person.. to transform them, while all the time transforming theirself.

NBC's Lee Cowan admired how “in the City of Brotherly Love, Barack Obama gave the most expansive and most intensely personal speech on race he's ever given,” adding it reflected “honesty that struck his rival Hillary Clinton.” On NBC, Washington Post editorial writer Jonathan Capehart asserted “it was a very important speech for the nation. Obama's Messiah Shtick

..."Things are a bit different when it comes to the Obama material. The Obama Online store, which is an official arm of the Obama campaign, tagged Shepard Fairey to create a limited edition poster for the Obama presidential campaign. This poster transcends the usual sign aimed at allowing supporters to make their feelings known, while ensuring that the general public gets a surfeit of the candidates' names and faces. Here, look:

As you see, Obama is no longer an ordinary mortal. Instead, he has been elevated to a symbolic level, where his name is unnecessary (we all know it, don't we?), his goal is unmentioned (I think he's above petty politics), and his qualifications are irrelevant (good thing, too, since he doesn't have any). Instead, all that's left is his almost superhuman visage, which is allied with one magical word: "change." The political poster has been transformed from advertisement to iconography
..."

Janice Sue G. said...

More from the article:
For many months now, I've been inclined to slough all of this messiah-shtick stuff off, attributing it to those liberal fans who operate from a strong emotional base that manages to side step reason. Reason, of course, would point out that his politics are indistinguishable from other ultra liberal Democrats and his experience minimal. As Geraldine Ferraro was tacky enough to point out -- how un-Democratic of her -- the only pragmatic advantage he has over other like-minded candidates is his skin color.

Obama's recent race speech, however, indicates that Obama is beginning to believe his own publicity. As everyone now knows, Obama opened by speaking accurately, and movingly, about the way in America's promised freedom was compromised from its inception by the taint of slavery, a taint that he sees as unrelieved by the hundreds of thousands of lives lost in the Civil War, the remarkable courage of the Civil Rights movement, and the mass re-education of American attitudes in the 40 plus years since the Civil Rights movement. The Wright experience, of course, has shown us that Obama is not alone in this jaundiced view of America's progress regarding race.

What makes Obama different from other African Americans, who do not find any cause for celebration in America's racial progress, is the way in which he sees himself as a necessary fulfillment of the Civil Rights movement. Thus, immediately after referring with great brevity to both the Civil War and the Civil Rights movement, Obama put his own candidacy front and center:

"This was one of the tasks we set forth at the beginning of this campaign -- to continue the long march of those who came before us, a march for a more just, more equal, more free, more caring and more prosperous America. I chose to run for the presidency at this moment in history because I believe deeply that we cannot solve the challenges of our time unless we solve them together -- unless we perfect our union by understanding that we may have different stories, but we hold common hopes; that we may not look the same and we may not have come from the same place, but we all want to move in the same direction -- towards a better future for of children and our grandchildren."

In other words, it is Obama himself who will bring to fruition Martin Luther King's dream of a post-racial America. To this end, Obama is not advancing himself as one who should be President because he's the best man for the job, but as one who should become President because he, personally, by being some racial fulfillment incarnate, will save us from the last remaining "stains" that the Founders created.

Nor is this concept merely inept phrasing on Obama's part (perish the thought), or hypercritical reading on my part. Obama made precisely the same point a second time in his speech. After establishing his racial bona fides by describing his mixed ancestry,* he again presented himself as the living embodiment of racial healing:

"Throughout the first year of this campaign, against all predictions to the contrary, we saw how hungry the American people were for this message of unity. Despite the temptation to view my candidacy through a purely racial lens, we won commanding victories in states with some of the whitest populations in the country. In South Carolina, where the Confederate Flag still flies, we built a powerful coalition of African Americans and white Americans."

Thus, even as Obama said that it is a mistake to view his candidacy "through a purely racial lens," he boasted that it was he who bound together the races. This is also a "racial lens," although a unifying one, not the divisive one the Wright shouted from his pulpit.

What is apparent is that, through these pronouncements about the transcendent meaning of his candidacy, Obama accepts Andrew Sullivan's hagiographic conclusion that his candidacy is a "transformational one," not because of what he brings to the table, but simply because of who he is. He is the racial messiah, one who, simply by being, will save America from the stain on her soul.

It is, in its own way, a charming conceit. Unfortunately, though, Obama's presidency won't end the moment he is sworn in, with an orgy of racial healing, followed by a fade-out to a glorious sunset. Instead, as he's made plain time and time again, including in his speech on race, once the orgasmic feeling of having elected "the One" passes away, Americans will awake to discover that, in fact, they have bedded down with the same old, same old. This is messianic politics only if ones idea of salvation is the usual Democratic fare of big government, big taxes, and big denial when it comes to the realities of World War IV.

Christopher: I've got one:

Barack's appeal is actually messianic

By STEVE DAVIS, Charleston

I can still see Geraldine Ferraro’s dumfounded look as she tried to defend her statement that Barack Obama has gotten where he is in this political race only because he’s black. She moaned, “Why is such a fuss being made about it? Why are my merely factual words creating such a stir?” (I paraphrase.) She also stated she feels “very hurt” about it all, “very hurt.” And bewildered.

Well, a couple of responses from me: Firstly, her statement was not a fact, it was an opinion. I have been examining the Obama phenomenon myself, and have concluded, at least for myself, a Midwestern white male, that Barack’s appeal is actually messianic, it’s something about his aura, his spirit, his soul, that exudes enlightenment in the making.

Oh, he’s not fully enlightened, being that enlightenment is a process, not an event. But for reasons I can’t fully articulate, he is one of those individuals who communicates God-like energy (metaphorically speaking), in whom you can “feel” God.

Now, I’m using the term “God” to mean the loving, honest, just, and inspiring part of the force behind it all. You may not believe something’s behind it all, but I do. And I look for God constantly — that which exudes love, integrity, humility, depth, kindness, generosity — and more ... supposedly.

So, Geraldine, I’m taking a special look at Barack Obama because he’s a lot closer to a Jesus-type than the other candidates, by quite a bit. What if God decided to incarnate as men preaching “hope and change.” And what if we didn’t recognize them, because we are so dull, and let them slip away, not availing ourselves of the opportunity to be led by God! Lord knows we’ve elected the anti-Christ often enough. Excuse me, George.

So you can imagine why even a white male like myself would be interested in a candidate “talking” the way Barack is talking. For those of you who are confused, what Barack is saying is in line with what God him/her/itself would say.

Secondly, my interest in Barack has nothing whatsoever to do with him being black, although it would be an ultimate irony that a black man was used to help set us free.

My fellow Catholics and Christians,

This election year has much at stake. With every new term we hope and pray for the unity of the nation under God and for the respect and love of man as our Lord Jesus Christ taught us.

It transpires from the campaign, however, that one of the presidential hopefuls, Sen. Barack Hussein Obama (D. Illinois) is offending not only our very beliefs, but challenging the peace and stability of the nation as a whole with his past and present actions.

As I am sure you have heard in the last few weeks, the man he calls his spiritual mentor, Jeremiah A. Wright, has gone on record for his own personal account of how our Lord was put to death. According to Wright:

"Jesus' enemies had their opinion about Him”

"The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans."

"From the circumstances surrounding Jesus' birth (in a barn in a township that was under the Apartheid Roman government that said his daddy had to be in), up to and including the circumstances surrounding Jesus' death on a cross, a Roman cross, public lynching Italian style. “

Apart from Reverend Wright’s poor knowledge of history, as Italy as a nation or the idea of Italians did not exist in Roman times, nor did the Roman Empire practice apartheid - with its extension all over the known world then, the importing of cultures and immigration of people from all over the world to Rome, how could it be considered apartheid? Furthermore, to this day, a census still calls for the population to register from their hometown. Reverend Wright obviously has never partaken in a census!

This person, with whom Senator Obama has associated for 20 years, has the audacity to distort the Passion of our Lord in this way. Senator Obama has never denounced his comments, nor distanced himself from this man.

Secondly, there is the very disturbing issue of Senator Obama’s kinship with Kenyan dictator Raila Odinga. Minister Odinga is Senator Obama’s cousin and has on many occasions openly supported him as a politician. At least 1000 Christians have been killed by fire and macheted under Odinga’s rule. With the murders respectively of Father Andrea Santoro in Turkey in 2006 and Archbishop Paulos Faraj Rahho last month, there is plausible reason for concern in these areas for the safety of Christians and the freedom to practice their faith.

Again, Senator Obama has not distanced himself from this vicious tyrant he calls his cousin – can we as Catholics and Christians feel safe in tomorrow’s world under an Obama presidency if he does not denounce religious hate crimes?

There are also two issues on which Senator Obama has taken controversial stances on the future of children, which are very far from our viewpoint as Catholics, and those being the legalization of partial abortion and sex education as early as Kindergarten for children! As if the crime and anguish of abortion weren’t enough (he dismisses unwanted pregnancy simply as a mistake that can be taken care of by an abortion), Senator Obama, if elected, wants to make late-trimester abortions, thus the killing of nearly newborns, perfectly legal! If we were to add to that the appalling idea that he does not want children to be children anymore by proposing sex education at a tender age, it is quite clear that Senator Obama is an enemy both of children, though he is the father of two very young daughters, and of the Christianity he claims to profess.

When we vote this November, we must choose first and foremost a candidate who will not offend our beliefs, the gift of life, or the future of our children. Given the arguments presented above, I truly feel that Senator Obama is not the candidate we can trust to respect either the teachings of either our Lord or our fellow man.

The Obama Phenomenon by Michael Lerner

The Brand Called Obama By: Ellen McGirt

Win or lose, Barack Obama's rise changes business as usual for everyone. Here's why.
usual for everyone. Here's why.

"Whatever you do, don't hurt Barack!" It was the afternoon of Super Tuesday, and the Chicago sky threatened snow. Senator Barack Obama had just returned to his hometown as voters in 22 states were making history by choosing between a black man and a white woman to be the Democratic nominee for president. The road-weary candidate put off calling fund-raisers or leading one last rally. Instead, he headed over to a downtown gym to play basketball with his nephew, his brother-in-law, and a few buddies. He needed to take a few minutes to chill out, and hoops was his therapy.

Tim Leberecht Henry Jenkins argued in his keynote at SXSW Interactive two weeks ago that accusing Obama of plagiarism (as the Clinton camp did when it brought forward that Obama had borrowed words from past speeches of Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick) misses the point: It’s a remix culture, stupid!

The Obama brand is all software and only a little hardware, and it comes with an open SDK (software developer kit) — a dynamic, modular platform that both individual campaigners and institutional networks can plug into. Obama’s entire campaign is based on the principle of “picture-in-picture web,” as Steve Rubel coins it. Or, to borrow another one of Rubel’s lines: Obama is a web service, not a web site. He is the “blue ocean” and not the (little) rock. He is a franchise brand that anyone can hijack, re-shape, and remix a la carte. That makes him vulnerable and volatile but at the same time powerful and unstoppable. When your greatest weakness is your biggest strength, you are very hard to beat.

In this special edition of Frontpage Symposium, we have assembled a distinguished panel to explore the “Unknown Obama.”

...Since I have focused on religion, it is important also, since the news has just broken, to mention the recent controversy over Barack Obama's relationship with the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Their close relationship has been known for some time, but it is only recently that the videos of the Reverend Wright declaiming against Hillary Clinton, damning the United States, and blaming 9/11 on America have become known. One wonders why this has taken so long; one would have expected the Clinton machine to have trotted the Reverend out a long time ago. The real controversy here is not so much that Reverend Wright presents as something like a Noam Chomsky on drugs, but Obama's claim that he wasn't present to see these performances and that he did not know about them. Even granting him the shady evasion that he wasn't there, it is impossible to imagine that he could not have known about them. In church, everyone knows what the pastor says, either by direct observation or word-of-mouth.

What is even more troubling is that Obama would appoint the pastor to a high position in his campaign and describe him as his spiritual advisor knowing that he was prone to apoplectic fits of political rage. Obama's (very Christian) condemnation of the sin, but not the sinner, was quite noble as well as tactical manoeuvre, for to condemn the man himself would have completely destroyed his claims to authenticity in his interpersonal relationships. So the issue is less about the "unknown Obama" than the fact of what Obama must have known, but would not and could not address. The best he could do was to champion the good qualities of the pastor, likening him to an uncle who has "lost it" and thereby reasserting the fact that Obama considers this political charlatan still to be like a member of his own family and his spiritual mentor. It's not quite like the situation of Jimmy Carter, who had to tolerate his drunken redneck brother Billy because they happened to share a mother and father. For Obama's association with Reverend Wright was a choice and it says a lot more about the man, his worldview, and his judgment than his charismatic personality and leadership skills seem to imply. The Senator may have figured out how to act like a moderate, how to charm people, and how to appeal to their disenchantment by invoking the slogan of "hope" and "change", but this new "unknown" relationship strips off some of that fine veneer. It is truly troubling that Obama knew about the Reverend Wright and that he was either 1. Too stupid to realize the political damage this fanatic could do to his campaign or 2. He thought we were too stupid to discover that his spiritual advisor is a fanatic, or that we wouldn’t care.

I began my thoughts here praising Obama’s abilities as a public performer and a charismatic figure in politics. He will retain those, yet behind this front stage performance of a new kind of African-American leader, it is clear that Obama remains closely tied to the most retrograde and reactionary elements of the African-American community. Backstage, the “unknown Obama” may be closer to people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson than we were at first led to believe. The truly frightening prospect is that the current infatuation with the Senator might occlude concern with his choice of spiritual advisors. This might especially be the case among young people who, led by their radical professors who support Obama en masse, might think that Rev. Wright is “right on.” There is nothing that Wright has said in his various tirades that I have not heard in the groves of academe.

What remains to be seen are the other unknown, or hidden affiliations and sentiments of the Senator, which may indicate that behind his effective and charming performances there lies a man who is deeply connected to some of the most radical and reactionary elements in American politics. And this is not purely in relation to those elements in the African-American community. It has recently come to light that Obama enjoys a close relationship to Bill Ayers a former member of the Weather Underground, whose professed aim (for which he is not apologetic) was to overthrow the American government through armed force. I suppose it is entirely reasonable and even necessary to judge a man, especially a candidate for the presidency of the United States, by the company he keeps. The main concern is whether or not rank-and-file moderates who seem to have fallen in love with Obama can look beyond the charm and charisma to take a deeper look at who the Senator really is.

No. But you gotta, be in it (white clothing) to win it. (Title of the second Christ) Obama does not wear all white nor does he wear the words King of Kings and Lord of Lords on his clothing. Raising the roof: Crowd at Obama rally shows its passion through screams, tears

By KEILA SZPALLER of the Missoulian

Missoula roared Saturday morning for U.S. Sen. Barack Obama. In the Adams Center, Montanans shook their collective booty, held up their babies and even wept for a presidential candidate they believe will restore the American Dream in their towns and integrity to the White House.

“I've lived here in Montana all my life. I've never seen anything here like this before - this energy today. Montana is coming alive,” said Carole Meyers, of Missoula.

The Illinois senator, fighting against Sen. Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, made a rare presidential campaign visit to Missoula. Most years, Montana doesn't draw presidential candidates. In those quieter years, folks in Big Sky Country must have bottled up the love and attention they could have shown a candidate.

In a throbbing Adams Center on Saturday morning, it felt like that bottle exploded. Screaming fans and watchers of history showered affection on a man whose message of change they said they trusted and believed.

Barry Adams said he normally protests at political events, but even the self-described radical and outlaw raved at the rally.

“I don't usually go out for straight politicians. But I like Obama,” said Adams, a military veteran.

Obama spoke shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday, so the Garden City stirred early. Some folks walked to the University of Montana campus while the sun was still rising, and shortly after 8 a.m., the line of people that curled out the entrance of the basketball arena and down Arthur Avenue started moving.

Amanda Cooper used the time in line to pretty up her baby, Aislyn, for Obama. As the Bozeman woman made her way into the arena, she used a makeup pencil to write “Kiss me” on the side of her 6-month-old's forehead.

“Say, ‘Kiss me, 'Bama.' ”

A UM student from Thailand brought Obama good wishes from overseas. Prayer Otwong, 22, said she talks with her friends in Thailand about politics in the U.S., and they see a candidate who can help America restore its tainted reputation abroad.

“They're all excited about Obama,” Otwong said.

People streamed into the stands wearing knit hats to stay warm, and shiny red, white and blue feather boas to show patriotism for change. They came old and young, from near and far. They came to see what some said was one of the most electrifying events to reach Missoula in ages.

“It feels like this is a part of history we're going to be lucky we saw,” said Mary Kelly, of Missoula.

Rio Aagaard-Shively, almost 12, found seats behind the podium with his brother and father.

“I'm just hoping he'll turn around,” Rio said.

“Dad. After it's over, can I go down there and shake his hand?” asked his brother, 10-year-old Ari.

That family is from Missoula, but folks like Jim Eichhorn traveled a ways for a chance to see history in the making.

Eichhorn, 96, came from Bozeman to hear in person a candidate whom he considers truthful.

“It'll be the first time I ever saw a president. He's not a president yet, but he will be,” Eichhorn said.

As the arena slowly swallowed some 8,000 people, the bass lines seemed to grow louder and even the ladies and gents still waiting in line started bumping.

At one point, volunteers and guards temporarily lost control of some crowd members when a mountain of people pushed past them to secure what they thought would be better seats.

Missoula's Patrick Ellison said he and his family had waited in line since 6 a.m. because they thought that would guarantee them a good view.

“Then, they shove us behind him. I just think that's inane,” Ellison said.

But most folks seemed to be feeling good and they boogied when James Brown sang it over the speakers.

Three Missoula teenagers delighted in nabbing some of the best seats in the house because one uses a wheelchair. As they watched the people pouring into the bleachers, they snapped pictures and e-mailed the photos to a special class of their peers - “our poor friends who didn't get tickets,” said 17-year-old Rachel Chansler.

At 9:22 a.m. in the arena, a flash of stage lights elicited whoops and catcalls from the crowd. At 9:35 a.m., the energized early risers started the wave.

“I just want to touch him,” said one.

Just before 10 a.m., the crowd began chanting Obama's can-do theme, and they chanted faster and faster.

“Yes we can, yes we can, yes we can.”

“Yes-we-can. Yes-we-can. Yes-we-can.”

“Yeswecan.Yeswecan.Yeswecan.”

After campaign organizers said thank yous and officials gave introductions, someone yanked the podium off the stage.

Then Obama met his Montana fans - “We love you!” - and it was Mon-Bamania all around.

When Obama rolled around the word “Missoula” in his mouth and said he liked it, the people erupted. When he told them of Exxon Mobil's profits, they booed. And when he said that he wanted to get out of Iraq, they yelled and stomped their feet until it sounded like thunder.

“He inspires hope in people. That's what I want for myself and future generations,” said Tim Healzer of Missoula.

A handful of folks said they hadn't yet decided whether to back Obama or Clinton. After the 50-minute speech, though, one woman said Obama changed her mind.

Junell Gill, who is visiting family in Missoula, was a Clinton supporter until she heard Obama talk in person.

“He was just very, very inspiring, and very convincing with his convictions,” said Gill, of California.

Many people left the arena quickly after Obama did, but one man was so moved by the possibility of hope and change that he sat quietly in the stands and cried.

Doug Frandsen said Obama represents hope that there's something better for this country. The Missoula man said Obama is charismatic, but it isn't his charisma that speaks to him. It's his message.

“I don't think I've experienced anything quite like it. I thought the Rolling Stones was good. This is better,” Frandsen said.

Freedom and Democracy
Regarding new elections in Florida and Michigan, Senator Obama said we should play by the rules, I contend. In other words, we should not change the rules in the middle of the game.

Senator Bradley and Senator Daschle--both Obamanites--said the same thing as Obama. Play by the rules.

Play by the rules even though the voters of Florida and Michigan have been disenfranchised.

Ok.

Well, the rules also say that superdelegates can vote for Hillary even though most pledged delegates are for Obama.

Those are the rules. And we should not change the rules in the middle of the game, says Senator Obama, Senator Bradley and Senator Daschle.

I wonder if the corporate media will remind them that they are sticklers for the rules and for not changing the rules in the middle of the game.

I would imagine if the senators forget their rulesmanship it will look to the public as if they will say whatever they have to say in order to win. In other words, it will look as if they are practicing that old style politics they say they are so adamantly against.

For example, you might hear them say that superdelegates should be punished by the voters if they choose the rules over freedom and democracy.

Hmmmmm?

Then I suppose Obama, Bradley and Daschle should also be punished by the voters because they defended the rules against freedom and democracy for Florida and Michigan voters.

It will prick up the minds and ears of the most deeply rooted of America-haters. It’s a god-given opportunity...

Barack Obama: More Popular Than Jesus, Angelina Jolie

Link has a montage of just some the Obama magazine covers.

Barack Obama is on the cover of Rolling Stone again! So soon after the last one. And just one week after he showed up on the front of publisher Jann Wenner's UsWeekly! In fact, if you have a magazine, you have probably put Barack Obama on the cover. It's summer, so nothing is really going on besides Batman and this Barack Obama character. Does anyone without a pair of breasts sell so many magazines? Did our prettiest president even get this much ink until he tragically died? Attached, a composite of the media maelstrom. (The Tiger Beat one, sadly, is from The Onion. It was our favorite too.)

Bible Codes Bs”d
Listed below in the large Hebrew letters are places that Obama (phonetically) is found in the Original Hebrew text of the Bible. There are many ways the future can unfold; the bible shows all of them. Ultimately what will be is left to the free will of man. “All is foreseen, yet there is freedom of choice” (sayings of our fathers). The end of the story in any case is redemption as described in the Bible. This can be hurried by great evil or good.

וַיֹּאמַר אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה בַּמָּה אֵדַע כִּי אִירָשֶׁנָּה
8. And he said, Lord God, how shall I know that I shall inherit it? (Genesis 15:8)

(These words brought the Egyptian Exile, signify the end of America as a great power)

5. O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab planned, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim to Gilgal; that you may know the righteousness of the Lord.
6. With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with one year old calves? (Michah 6:5)

(Obama is a bad man as Balak and Balaam)

And two golden rings shall you make for it under its rim, by its two corners, upon its two sides shall you make it; and they shall be holders for the carrying poles. (Exodus 30-5)
(This refers to the return of the Ark of the covenant To Israel. The Redemption of Israel)

26. For that is his only covering, it is the garment for his skin; Where shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he cries to me, that I will hear; for I am compassionate. (Exodus 22:26)
(Housing foreclosures , American down fall by economic collapse)

. And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do to the ark of the Lord? tell us how we shall send it to its place. (Samual 1 6:2)

(This refers to the return of the Ark of the covenant To Israel , the end of the Palestinian problem)

And Saul said, Draw you near here, all the chiefs of the people; and know and see where this sin has been this day. (Samual 1:14:38)
(when disaster hits America, they will know why)

And the Lord said to him, With what? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You shall persuade him, and prevail also; go forth, and do so. (kings1 22:21)
(Obama says opposite things lying every day)

דֶּרֶךְ רְשָׁעִים כָּאֲפֵלָה לֹא יָדְעוּ בַּמֶּה יִכָּשֵׁלוּ
19. The way of the wicked is like darkness; they know not at what they stumble. (proverbs 4:19)
(Much American population is deceived by Barack, they know no better)

20. Then came out a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will entice him. And the Lord said to him, With what? (chronicles2 18:20)
(Obama entices the people but not really offering the people an thing, empty colorful words)

Initial B. Omama :

. Therefore, since you trample upon the poor, and you take from him exactions of wheat, you have built houses of cut stone, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink wine of them. (Amos 5:11)
(More housing foreclosures , economic collapse)

פִּתְחוּ-לִי שַׁעֲרֵי-צֶדֶק אָבֹא-בָם אוֹדֶה יָהּ:

Think you know who this man is?

This possible President of the United States ?? Read Below and

ask yourselves, is this REALLY someone we can see as the

President of our great nation!!!!

Below are a few lines from Obama's books; In his words!

From Dreams of My Father:
'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'
From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

And FINALLY the Most Damming one of ALL of them!!!

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

We CANNOT have someone with this type of mentality running our GREAT nation!!

I don't care whether you a Democrat or a Conservative.
We CANNOT turn ourselves over to this type of character in a President.
PLEASE help spread the word!

Plato, Obama, and Peters on the Question of Mighty Pens

{skip}Mr. Obama will fulfill the Platonic prophecies.

But he’ll do even more. He won’t just heal our city-states and souls. He won’t just bring the Heavenly Kingdom — dreamt of in both Platonism and Christianity — to earth. He will heal the earth itself.

And that, my friends, is taking the philosopher king to the next level. Only a Christian Platonism could predict what Obama will do.

We might say, then, that Obama is not only post-partisan and post-racial, but post-Platonist. The context in which he lives, moves, and has his being may have been first designed in the 300’s B.C.; but it was radically re-designed in the First Century, A.D. {skip}

After all, would so many of our fellow citizens have accepted Obama as their personal lord and savior (i.e., messiah) were it not for the pervasive cultural beliefs which Platonic philosophy created?{skip}

Spike Lee: Obama's Election Will Be "Seismic Change"

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Spike Lee says the Rev. Jesse Jackson's crudely phrased criticism of Barack Obama won't affect the Democrat's campaign, which the filmmaker expects to succeed at bringing "seismic" change to the world.

"I don't think his (Jackson's) comments help anybody. It's just unfortunate," Lee said after taking part in a Television Critics Association panel.

Lee predicted Obama would be elected in November.

"When that happens, it will change everything. ... You'll have to measure time by `Before Obama' and `After Obama,'" Lee said during the panel. "It's an exciting time to be alive now."

The presidency of the first African-American will ripple throughout arts, sports and more, said Lee, whose films include "Malcolm X" and "Do the Right Thing."

"Everything's going to be affected by this seismic change in the univese," he said. {skip} "I'm for Mr. Obama," Lee said. "I think he's gonna win. And it's going to be a better day not only for the United States but for the world."universe," he said. {skip}

Hmmmmmm maybe with Europeans being so enamored of this Obama man he could run for office there... then he would mess up the European economy with his messianic promises... a mythical character is our Senator Obama:

"Obama is running a positive campaign that will
unite Americans."

* (But, Obama and his advisers conducted a divisive "full assault" on Hillary's character.***

While talking a lot about the politics of hope, change and unity, Sen. Obama and his campaign conducted a relentless and singularly personal assault on Hillary's character. They blanketed big states with false negative mailers and radio ads and described Hillary and her campaign as "disingenuous,"

on Hillary's integrity and character reached a new peak after Hillary's
victories on March 4th. One of Sen. Obama's top surrogates equated
President Clinton with Joe McCarthy; another called Hillary a "monster;"
and his campaign manager held an angry conference call
claiming that Hillary is "deeply flawed" and has "character issues."

That's neither unifying nor hopeful. If Sen. Obama really is the
prohibitive favorite some say he is, these negative attacks make absolutely no sense. Why would a frontrunner seek to attack and divide?

If Sen. Obama can't unify Democrats in a primary, how can he unify Americans in a general election?

And this messiah... oh he is hiding his messianic qualities when he:

"Obama does not take money from corporations."

(But, while this is technically true, since it is ILLEGAL for
corporations to donate to political campaigns, it is perfectly okay for the executives and employees -- who might be under some pressure to donate -- to donate to campaigns. And when corporate executives promise to raise $50,000 or even $200,000 for Obama, we can be pretty sure those corporate executives lean on those below them on the corporate ladder to give, give give.

Some of the things Barack Obama says may be technically true but are INTENDED to MISLEAD.

For instance, Obama took in $222,309 from donors at Exxon, Shell, Chevron and others, according to campaign-finance data. Two oil company CEOs have pledged to raise at least $50,000 each as part of Obama's fundraising team.

Another example ...

Obama is raising more than his opponents from executives of some of the CORPORATE interests he criticizes. Obama has received MORE MONEY from people who work at PHARMACEUTICAL and health product companies, according to the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics. He's taken in $528,765 through February, compared with $506,001 for Clinton and $139,400 for McCain, despite saying last
July that "I don't take pharma money."

And there's this:

"Obama's 20 LARGEST SOURCES of MONEY, grouped by employers, are executives from major CORPORATIONS and law firms with a Washington LOBBYING presence -- including Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Google, according to the center.

Obama in Torah Codes :

וישא משלו ויאמר מן ארם ינחני בלק מלך מואב מהררי קדם לכה ארה לי יעקב ולכה זעמה ישראל

“And he took up his discourse, and said, Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram, from the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse Jacob for me, and come, defy Israel.” (numbers 23:7)

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

In the bible it didn’t work

Isiah 45: הוי אמר לאב מה תולידולאשה מה תחילין.

“Woe to him who says to his father, What are you begetting? or to the woman, With what are you in labor?” (Isaiah 45:10)

Here again he defies the will of God

לכן הנני פתח את כתף מואב מהערים מעריו מקצהו צבי ארץ בית הישימת בעל מעון וקריתמה

Therefore, behold, I will open the flank of Moab from the cities, from his cities which are on his frontiers, the glory of the country, Beth-HaJeshimoth, Baal-Meon, and Kiriatayim, (Ezekiel 25:9)

10To the men of the east I will give, along with the Ammonites, as a possession, that the Ammonites may not be remembered among the nations.
11. And I will execute judgments upon Moab; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
12. Thus says the Lord God: Because Edom has dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and has greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them;
13. Therefore thus says the Lord God: I will also stretch out my hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword.
14. And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel; and they shall do in Edom according to my anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, says the Lord God.
15. Thus says the Lord God: Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a disdainful soul, to destroy it in ever lasting hatred;
16. Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will stretch out my hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Kerethites and destroy the remnant of the sea coast.
17. And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

We see from these verses by Obama’s support for the Arabs he will bring great destruction on them, the vengeance of God. Edom is the west “America”. Moab the sages say is an all inclusive term for all the Arab states. We know who the Palestinians are.

One of Many Reasons the DNC Will Be Hipper Than the RNC

MoveOn is partnering with Shepard Fairey and Upper Playground to host a Pro-Obama (naturally) exhibit during the DNC. The "Manifest Hope Art Gallery" will open on Sunday, August 24 and run through Thursday, August 28. The 10,000 square foot venue will display work by both established an emerging artists. Additionally, the proponents of the candidate that can actually raise his arms above his head will hold an art contest and 30 submissions will be featured in an online gallery with the top 5 hung physically at the 'Hope' Gallery. We also hear that the show will include on site installations from the likes of Ron English and Sam Flores. The above image is from one of the artists featured in the show, who simply goes by the name Eddie. He's been pasting up this image around San Francisco of Obama with radiating lights and the word "Forward" in Chinese in an effort to highlight the often overlooked Asian voting bloc. He's also created versions in Spanish and plans on rolling out other languages too like Korean, Japanese, Russian, and Vietnamese. The piece itself was created with layers of paper, shellac, and then pasted into a lightbox. Detailed shots and images of the work in progress below.

One Nation, Under a New Obama Salute

George Bush had his three-fingered W salute that supporters flashed when greeting him at presidential campaign events in 2000. And now, if a Los Angeles creative agency gets its way, Sen. Barack Obama will see fans meet him with his own salute like the one above. "Our goal is to see a crowd of 75,000 people at Obama's nomination speech holding their hands above their heads, fingers laced together in support of a new direction for this country, a renewed hope, and acceptance of responsibility for our future," says Rick Husong, owner of The Loyalty Inc. Husong tells me that he got the idea after seeing the famous Obama-Progress poster by artist Shepherd Fairey. "We wanted to get involved some way," he says. So, the agency came up with their own a symbol of hope and progress that also plays off Obama's name. "We thought, 'Let's try and start a movement where even while walking down the street, people would hold up the O and you would know that they were for Obama,' " says Husong. Much thought went into the relatively simple idea. "You interlace your hands in a circle, the interlacing being a symbol of different types of people coming together and the circle a symbol of unity," he says. Their design, unlike Fairey's, is free, and Husong is urging people to download it and print it on posters and T-shirts. "We want to see it everywhere, but more importantly we want this sign to take the world by storm."

Denver hasn't hosted a Democratic National Convention for 100 years, and it's a safe bet that the last time the Dems stampeded into town there were no yoga studios selling tee-shirts with the Boy Orator and presumptive presidential nominee William Jennings Bryan on them.

Did somebody say Boy Orator? The silver-tongued Barack Obama's words are on tee shirts selling at Om Time, an oasis of tranquility sandwiched between the Colorado Democratic headquarters on one corner, and the center for the Obama campaign on the other, along with a slice of tattoo shop and art gallery garnish. "The Union may never be perfect but generation after generation has shown that it can always be perfected," proclaims the tee-shirt in the Om Time window.

It hangs just south of the shri shrine, and the peace and love tee shirts you'd expect. Walk by quickly and you'd think the silk-screened image of Obama's close-shaved head was Ghandi's.

It was to hear more of those sentiments from the man himself--Obama, not Ghandi--that people started lining up at the Obama campaign office at least an hour before it was scheduled to open.

About 30 of us had not been able to get through by phone or online to register for the 30,000 tickets that were available to Colorado residents to attend Obama's acceptance speech at Invesco Field August 28. We waited quietly and respectfully; Obama and Ghandi would have been proud...

wish this was a parody post but it's not. Nikki Grimes has written a children's book on Barack Obama, entitled Son of Promise, Child of Hope. This is a book to avoid, judging by this except:

Even God himself talks to Barry while he's in church on Sunday, telling him: "Look around you. Now look to me. There is hope enough here to last a lifetime."

This Messianic stuff is seriously beyond the pale. Do libs really want to tell kids God speaks to Barry?

Let's be clear, Obama Has experience, it's just not Washington experience. What they fear is Barack Obama's Vision— a vision to empower people and to put people first again and they fear his power to inspire and ennoble men to have hope again — to believe again. They know that Barack offers real change (that means change from GOP domination and manipulation) and he offers forward thinking and progressive ideas and solutions to Really solve the current problems facing us today. One of Barrack's greatest assets is that he is unmired [sic] by the trappings of wealth and power that means big oil, as it is imperative that we find an alternative solution to oil, if the United States is to continue to be prosperous and to thrive. All of these attributes are which makes Barack a truly great leader of men, needed for these times! Some men are born for a holy mission, like the young King David who was made king over his older brothers. Their experience or annointing [sic] comes from God, such a man is Barack

James Freund,

HAHA! Yeah, I nominate you for Obama's Secretary of State. Just git on over to Iran and sing that song. "We Can Work It Out." They'll drop their nuclear program when they hear your rhymes.

...Other of the exhibits were not so playful. One particular work invoked the sacred, picturing Obama's great head--illuminated by sunbursts--emerging from the clouds over a bare-breasted maiden who is robed in an American flag and emerging from a volcano. Note that in the lower-right-hand corner an assemblage of people are literally kneeling before Obama:

Joe Klein: What a Community Organizer Does

So here is what Giuliani and Palin didn't know: Obama was working for a group of churches that were concerned about their parishioners, many of whom had been laid off when the steel mills closed on the south side of Chicago. They hired Obama to help those stunned people recover and get the services they needed--job training, help with housing and so forth--from the local government. It was, dare I say it, the Lord's work--the sort of mission Jesus preached (as opposed to the war in Iraq, which Palin described as a "task from God.")

Indeed, the "odious" "profoundly lapsed Catholic" being critical of Obama is bilge.

I think Axelrod should pursue this. Maybe not directly, but through some surrogates.

Thank you, Joe, for giving us the Catholic Democrats' press release on behalf of Obama.
You are right. He was doing the Lord's work, the work of Jesus himself. How dare Guiliani imply that doesn't qualify him for office? Does Rudy think Jesus wouldn't make a good President? Outrageous.

The Temple of Obama

“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition. Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God” – (2 Thes.2:3,4).

At the Democrat National Convention in Denver, Co. at Invesco Field, ‘The Temple of Obama’ was erected for his acceptance speech as the Democrat candidate for President of the U.S. in front of 73,000 people.

As if a Rocky Mountain coronation was not lofty enough, Obama accepted his party’s nomination atop an enormous stage decked out like an ancient Roman temple that the Romans worshipped their emperors in. The republican camp called the set ‘The Temple of Obama’ and said – “It’s only appropriate that Barack Obama would descend from the heavens and spend a little time with us mere mortals.”

At the stadium at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos, the extravagant event before a full audience, had tens of millions of TV viewers, and also performances by Stevie Wonder and Sheryl Crow. American Idol Jennifer Hudson also sang the National Anthem.

What we could be very well seeing here is a dress rehearsal for Antichrist showing himself as God in the newly built temple in Jerusalem soon to come. “So that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God” – (2 Thes.2:4).

Obama could very well be the American idol with feet of clay in Nebuchadnezzar’s idol dream – (Dan.2:41-43). Antichrist is the last emperor worship on earth just before the Lord Jesus returns as King of Kings at Armageddon and defeats Antichrist and his armies – (Rev.19). Antichrist and his image will be worshipped worldwide. Nebuchadnezzar the king said – “I have dreamed a dream…” – (Dan.2:4). And Obama has his dreams as he follows another King – ML King. Already Obama’s image is worldwide and everywhere and on all kinds of products.

It is written – “And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein” – (Rev.11:1). The newly rebuilt temple in Jerusalem is coming soon. And once again the Jews will sacrifice animals and doves, rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s perfect, supreme one-time sacrifice for sin on Calvary. It will end up being desecrated by Antichrist as he shows himself as God to the whole world. Antichrist will finally turn against Israel and bring his armies against them to try to exterminate them and he destroys the new temple as the Roman Titus did in AD 70.

This act of desecration by Antichrist showing himself as God in Israel’s new temple is called “The abomination of desolation” – “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (Whose readeth, let him understand)” – (Mt.24:15).

While meditating on the abominable Antichrist, the Holy Spirit gave me a word ‘Obamanation.’ I searched the Web and got many hits about Obama. There is an Obama Nation Fan Club that wants to replace the abomination in the White House with an Obamanation in 2008. There is a site called “Obamanation.com” where a black pastor warns the nation about Obama. Another asks – “Will the U.S. become an Obama Nation?” Another one said – “An Obama nation would be an abomination. Obama supports abortion, homosexual rights and same sex marriage, and denies God’s Word by promoting these abominations. He says that Obama’s theology is one of deception and of the Antichrist and that Americans should not be so deceived as to turn the U.S. into an Obamanation. As that would certainly be an abomination.” America is desperate for a Messiah. If we continue to reject Christ, what we may get is an Obamanation instead. You have heard of the fake ‘abominable snowman’, a human-like beast near Tibet. Well there’s a true abominable Beast in the Bible – or should I say – “Obamanable Beast.”

Jesus Christ and His body is the only true temple of God. “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. But he spake of the temple of his body” – (Jn.2:19,21). “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you” – (I Cor.3:16). Does the Holy Spirit dwell in you? Have you been born again and baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ? God no longer dwells in a temple made with hands, but in saved, sanctified bodies of flesh and bone. Repent of your sins and believe on Christ in your heart by faith and you will become a new born again holy creature in Christ – (2 Cor.5:7).

“And what I say unto you, I say unto all, Watch” – (Mk.13:37).

From the Catholic League:

OBAMA AND JESUS: TWO “COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS”

September 10, 2008

On the floor of the House of Representatives today, Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen said that “Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue responded as follows:

“Congressman Cohen forgot to mention that Jesus could walk on water. Perhaps he can tell us when Obama plans to take a stroll across the Potomac.”

If you rearrange the letters of:

"Senator McCain, Sarah Palin"

You get the phrase:

"Can trap nonracial messiah."

I just though everyone should know.

After almost finishing the book Obama Nation, your blog was mentioned in the book. So I had to check this out.
Thanks for doing this, as it was eye opening on what people think Obama is. Is he god like?? Not in my opimion, very smooth talker who will be like the Pied Piper and lead people into more trouble then they realize. But right now alot of people are caught up in the glimmer of the photos and speech of Obama.
